From July 1 to 4, Buitenplaats Brienenoord is one of the locations of the Rotterdam Art Week. All artists who have previously resided at the Buitenplaats within the Waterworks programme present work during this weekend.
Maurice Meewisse – Slootje en Put
Maurice provides audio tours that take you in 25 minutes into his findings, memories and interventions on the island.
Maud van den Beuken – Greet the River for me
Along with the movement of the river, you are invited to move The Raft along with Maud van den Beuken. The ambition is to sail around the island via the Nieuwe Maas and the Zuiddiepje. In the river trips you explore the bottom of the rivers and the framework of the island with her. Exact times depend on the current.
De Onkruidenier – Sweet – Sweat
On the Saturday and Sunday you can attend a closed training session between 11am and 12 noon. Reservations can be made via reservations@buitenplaatsbrienenoord.nl, with the subject “training session de Onkruidenier”, together with the day and the number of people. Afterwards they will give a performance that is freely accessible.
Elen Braga – Zand Erover
Elen concluded her work period in March – she will return to present “White palm-trees reforestation”, a series of tapestries and “boiling tropical water” installation.
Bruno van den Elshout – Kleine bootjes op de grote Maas
Under the guidance of artist Bruno van den Elshout you can make your own boat every day from natural materials that are present on the island. In the morning (from 11 a.m.) we collect building materials, in the afternoon we make boats out of them. Every afternoon at 4 pm the boats are launched together, to watch them be carried along on the current.

Wilde Zwemclub
Friday at 4pm and Sunday at 11am. The island has one of the most beautiful swimming ponds in Rotterdam. The old metro tunnel tube construction dock is home to the Wilde Zwemclub Brienenoord. Everyone is welcome to swim with us.
Diner Dansant
On Friday evening 2 July we celebrate the water. Inspired by the artists of Waterwerken, guest chef Swaan Mostert of World Bowls cooks a delicious vegetarian three-course dinner. Starts at 7pm. Price €30
