Joke Olthaar, Untitled, 2022

Artist and filmmaker Joke Olthaar is interested in people’s movements in different spaces. She seeks out the borders of the cutting edge and is currently developing works derived from her dreams and memories.

Olthaar often takes a subtractive approach to her art works, scratching away at materials ranging from paper to ice flowers and glass, as well as making linocuts.

Olthaar’s recent film ‘Berg’ featured at film festivals worldwide. It offers a visual experience of a vast mountain landscape and ponders how insignificant humans are within it. A minimalist soundtrack accompanies a journey of intense black-and-white images that invoke a primal memory of a universal mythical mountain.

Esther Schoonhoven, Untitled, 2022

Architect and artist Esther Schoonhoven has a longstanding interest in graphic prints. She is involved with Minnigh, Y/our gallery and Start Press, through which she stimulates others to discover the art of printmaking.

Esther produces series of work in different sizes, preferring individual pieces to editions. She specialises in etchings, lithographs, monoprints and risoprints. Her art works delve into the past and incorporate her memory into the print. A hallmark of her method is layering layer upon layer to make each work unique. She strives to reinvent herself continually and keep developing.
