‘What’s on your desk today? – Remnants!’
Alex Winters and Jan Bokma
In 1999, Alex Winters and Jan Bokma studied together at the Academy Minerva when they both claimed the same exhibition space at the same time. It was a misunderstanding and the beginning of their collaboration BUXUS. For six years, humour, pressure, reversed formalities, and awkward situations formed the core of their performances. Every space they enter is transformed into a creative space they call their office. Now they meet again; bringing their art from their studios to the window displays of B.a.d foundation to find out if there is still space for chemistry.

Alex Winters is just building drawings. “I am a painter with a hammer, I used to say. I always made work that dealt with the notion of drawing. Today I pick up pencils, crayons and some yarn to draw that notion”.

Jan Bokma is a sculptor dealing with death. His sculptures are two and three dimensional. “Every form, dead or alive, has its ending. I get scared by knowing all that surrounds me will perish. Being excluded from life. Not knowing.”
