INDUOS brings together individual musicians who will perform as duos, especially for this event. An eclectic experience with performance art, free jazz punk, improv world tunes, electro noise, trippy spacy techno, and ending up with a streaming, pounding dance floor.
With: Nadia Struiwigh, Dead Neanderthals, Vanita Monk & Robert Kroos, Henk Bakker & Ghaeth Almaghoot, Michiel Moerkerk & Marta Gonzales, Johanna Monk & Ghaith Qoutainy, Toine Horvers and DJ duo Naam.
INDUOS is presented as part of Charlois Speciaal, a ten-day art festival in Charlois, Rotterdam.
Toine Horvers
Toine Horvers invites people to sing a song in a foreign language. Having written the lyrics phonetically, during Induos he will perform the songs on stage with the invited people.
Michiel Moekerk & Marta González
Marta González plays cello and Michiel Moekerk the ngoni and djembe. As a duo, this promises to be an exciting combination. What exactly they are going to do remains secret.
Johanna Monk & Ghaith Qoutainy
Johanna Monk plays saxophone and clarinet, Ghaith Qoutainy plays guitar and uses electronics. For INDUOS, they will perform an improvisation of worldly free jazz.
Henk Bakker & Ghaeth Almaghoot
Although the clarinet and bass clarinet are part of the same family of instruments, the two musicians playing them for this event are far apart on the musical spectrum. Through improvisation, Henk Bakker and Ghaeth Almaghoot take on the challenge of bringing these two extremities closer together into something spectacular.
Vanita Monk & Robert Kroos
Something with a touch of elektro and noise. Vanita Monk and Robert Kroos will let it crackle – electrically crackle. They’ve earned their spurs with the highly diverse musical and non-musical activities. Tonight, however, it will crackle.
Dead Neanderthals
‘If you’re into heavy duos, this is unmissable,’ according to online magazine Pitchfork. Dead Neanderthals is the free-jazz punk duo par excellence. A hurricane of adrenaline – when you first hear it you’ll be like a rabbit caught in headlights. It’s exceedingly refined! Drums and saxophone! In addition to their abrasive sets, they’ve just released the wonderfully fine-tuned drone cd Life, and, with Rotterdam-based Machinefabriek, Smelter. Something to behold for a new life-changing experience!
Nadia Struiwigh
There’s an exception to every rule, for INDUOS it’s Nadia Struiwigh. She has just released a new record, WHHRU, on which she determines her own style. It’s ambient, it’s techno, but then again it’s neither. It’s experimental electronics, but this description also falls short. Performing live, she can put on an impressive concert that develops in a scorching techno set. As seen and heard at the latest edition of Rewire.
DJ duo Naam
Hidden beneath this unusual moniker (‘naam’ is Dutch for ‘name’) is a duo that will supply an eclectic mix of extraordinarily diverse and danceable music. Can’t say more…

Toine Horvers
Toine Horvers vraagt mensen een lied te zingen in een voor hem vreemde taal. Na de teksten fonetisch uitgeschreven te hebben zal hij de liedjes tijdens INDUOS met de uitgenodigde mensen op het podium ten gehore brengen.
Michiel Moekerk & Marta González
Marta González speelt cello en Michiel Moekerk ngoni en djembe. Als duo belooft dat een spannende combinatie te worden. Wat ze precies gaan doen blijft nog geheim.
Johanna Monk & Ghaith Qoutainy
Johanna Monk speelt saxofoon en klarinet, Ghaith Qoutainy speelt gitaar en hanteert elektronica. Samen brengen zij voor INDUOS een improvisatie van wereldse free jazz.
Henk Bakker & Ghaeth Almaghoot
Basklarinet en klarinet liggen op zich in elkaars verlengde zou je zeggen. Maar de twee muzikanten die ze bespelen liggen binnen het muzikale spectrum ver uit elkaar. Henk Bakker en Ghaeth Almaghoot gaan de uitdaging met elkaar aan om die uiteinden middels een improvisatie nader tot elkaar te brengen tot iets spectaculairs.
Vanita Monk & Robert Kroos
Iets met elektro en noise. Vanita Monk en Robert Kroos zullen het laten knetteren, electrisch laten knetteren. Ze hebben beiden hun sporen ruimschoots verdiend met de meest uiteenlopende muzikale en niet muzikale activiteiten. Vanavond zal het echter knetteren.
Dead Neanderthals
“If you’re into heavy duos, this is unmissable”, volgens het toonaangevende Pitchfork. Dead Neanderthals is Het free jazz punk duo bij uitstek. Een orkaan van adrenaline die je verstijfd doet staan als je er voor eerst mee in aanmerking komt. Maar zo verfijnd! Drums en saxofoon! Naast de loeiharde sets hebben ze net de geweldig fijnbesnaarde drone cd Life uitgebracht, en tegelijk ook Smelter met de Rotterdamse Machinefabriek. Zeer productief deze jongens. Weer erbij om een nieuwe levenservaring op te doen!
Nadia Struiwigh
Op elke regel is een uitzondering. En die uitzondering is voor INDUOS Nadia Struiwigh. Ze heeft net een nieuwe plaat uitgebracht WHHRU. Struiwigh bepaalt haar eigen stijl op deze plaat. Het is ambient, maar toch is het dat niet. Het is techno, maar toch weer ook niet. Het is experimentel electronica, en ook dat is het niet helemaal. Live kan ze een indrukwekkende optreden neerzetten die zich ontwikkelt in een dampende techno set. Zoals op de laatste editie van Rewire.
DJ duo Naam
Onder deze tot de verwondering sprekende naam gaat een duo schuil die een eclectische mix aan de meest uiteenlopende dansbare muziek aan het publiek zal voorschotelen. Meer kan ik niet zeggen….
