I Am Reborn is an exhibition featuring recent works by Sona Asemani made during her residency at Foundation Bad.
‘At the beginning of autumn 2023, I started a three-month stay at Foundation Bad – a pivotal experience, marking both my first residency in the Netherlands and my first project of large-scale paintings. Concluding this residency is my solo exhibition, “I Am Reborn”, showcasing the artwork made during my tenure at Bad.
The exhibited works describe my journey into to adulthood, encapsulating the challenges and tribulations encountered while embracing this new phase of life. In this collection, my fears are pitted against the bravery of a fictional character who I aspire to be like. Despair is countered by hope, dejection supplanted by vitality – a visual testament to my triumph over inner confusion and the conquering of my deepest fears.’
