Foundation B.a.d is an artists’ initiative from the Netherlands which is based in Rotterdam. It was founded in 1987, when a group of art students squatted an old bath-house and formed a foundation. In 1988, when occupying a new place in the north of Rotterdam, the foundation reformulated its position and the basis for the current group was formed. Since then, the foundation has provided studios, guest studios and project spaces.

The main aim of Foundation B.a.d is to provide space.
Since 1991 Foundation B.a.d has been situated in a former school building at Talingstraat 5, which is located south of the river Maas in an urban area near the harbour of Rotterdam.
In this building, B.a.d provides permanent studios for its members, guest studios and residencies. There are several common spaces which are used by members and guests, for artistic and social activities.
These spaces form an evolving situation in which a continuous exchange of ideas can take place. Visiting guests bring continuous change by presenting their works and ideas.
